Heavy Duty Underwing Refueling Nozzle

Carter offers several standard underwing nozzles. Until recently, the latest technology has been our model 64200 Pressure Fueling Nozzle. Now a nozzle derived from the 64200 has been introduced, primarily for those airports that have extremely heavy duty requirements. This nozzle Model 64250, in addition to being designed for heavy duty use, has several new features outlined below.

Before going into production, substantial numbers of 64200 prototype production units were subjected to field service for over 60 days at locations around the world. The nozzles were returned for evaluation by Carter engineering to effect changes to resolve conditions noted in the field. In its military version, 64201, it was qualified to MIL-N-5877 and field trials have been conducted by the Navy. Personal preferences, although not problematic, were taken into account when the nozzle was put into production.

Carter is the leading manufacturer of nozzles qualified in accordance with SAE AS5877 (MIL-N-5877). The 64201H is listed as being qualified on the QPL. The specification defines four nozzles, D-1, D-1R, D-2 and D-2R. The D-1 and D-1R nozzles have an inlet body that includes a 45° elbow. The D-1R is a D-1 with the addition of a Hose End Regulator. The D-2 and D-2R (includes a regulator) have straight inlets. Both units have a military standard 6-bolt inlet flange in accordance with MS33786-40. In addition, the 64201 can be purchased with various options to tailor a nozzle to fit the system requirements. These additional options, although widely utilized in the military, are not covered by any particular specification.

The Carter Model 64348 Underwing Nozzle has wide approval and has been used in world-wide applications for several years. It superseded the 61428 which also met with wide approval. It includes many features derived from the 61428 that were so popular including a true swivel disconnect to make connection to the aircraft much easier. It also provides better access to some aircraft that previously presented some difficulty.

Underwing Refueling Nozzle for World-Wide Service

The Carter Model 60427 Underwing Nozzle is utilized world-wide by more companies and at more airports than any other nozzle. Tens of thousands have been produced for the industry since it introduction in 1970. Although designed for the commercial application, it has been widely used by the military, especially in their pantograph, hot refueling operations. It is of modular design with various swivel disconnects, hose end regulators and other options available to tailor the nozzle to a customer's specific requirements. In reality, the 60427 is a family of nozzles building upon the base unit to achieve the desired end product.
